Riveted the HS rear spar to the stiffeners and the hinges brackets to the rear spar. Squeezed all the rivets for this section, it went very smoothly. I think the HS-413PP to rear spar rivets should be a little shorter, but the plans call for AN470AD4-5, and a -4 looked a tad too short. Gotta trust Vans on this one.
I then dug out the bolts, nuts, and washers for the center bearing plate mounting. I realize I hadn’t enlarged the hole to a #21, so I did that. Not a big deal, but I was a little surprised I’d missed that step in the directions.
I didn’t take any pictures of the riveting process, but here are some finished product pictures. I know everyone seems to rivet these the other way, with the shop head ‘inside’ the skin. I can’t imagine it makes much of a difference, the shop head of the skin rivets will be right there too.
