I spend some time on Sunday getting the front spar ready to be riveted. I managed to clean up some of the areas that I had scuffed and scratched while bending and forming the spars. I decided that I’d better shoot that area with some primer. I don’t want to go overboard with priming parts just for the sake of priming, I am a believer in Alclad, but i’d like to make sure any scratches are sanded out and smooth, and primed:
You can also see, if you’re also an RV-7 builder and have good eyes, and a good memory of the steps here, that i mistakenly riveted the two 4nd to center holes together. I was so glad how nicely the center counter-sunk rivets had turned out, i just decided to start working my way outboard. Helps to double check the instructions.
Fortunately, they drilled out just fine, and the holes aren’t any bigger. Even if they are a skosh bigger, I’ll drill them out during installation. I know this because I read the instructions:
